We recently took a trip back to West Virginia to visit all of our friends and family. The boys did a great job traveling. I think they have already earned a frequent flyer ticket! While in WV we got to experience many new things. One new experience was the boys fascination and excitement for all things West Virginia University . Of course this new found interest has been fueled by constant bombardment of Mountaineer propaganda by Clint. This assault includes reading Hello Mountaineer nightly, teaching the boys the words to Hail West Virginia, as well as identifying anything with the colors Old Gold & Blue as being "The Mountaineers." So while in Morgantown, the boys were especially ecstatic at visiting Mountaineer Field everyday when we went to visit Nana who was recovering from knee replacement surgery at WVU Hospital. Another great experience was visiting the campus and getting to see all of the buildings in Hello Mountaineer. The highlight of our visit for all of the Springer boys (including Clint) was getting the pictures shown here taken beside the Mountaineer statue. However, it is with some sadness that we are helping the boys realize that they bleed Old Gold & Blue because a benefit of Clint's new faculty position includes free college tuition to any Jesuit university in the country. So it is likely that the boys will never be WVU Alumni at least as undergraduates.
At any rate, we thought the timing of the post was appropriate with WVU's march to our first national football championship quickly approaching in the season opener against the MAC powerhouse the Western Michigan University Broncos.
LET'S GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Seems that WVU always blows an early season game to hurt their title chances. (Marshall? Maryland?) Then they lose to a mid-level Big East talent (i.e. any Big East team with a winning record).
So they might as well to the MAC West Preseason favorite and owner of numerous Big Ten upsets: Western Michigan. They were only a minute or so from taking out VaTech last year. Go Broncos.
